Someone who can't sing but uses autotune can still make a catchy song people love, and that seems fine to me. My opponent probably has a fair point about real talent, I guess. I just think it gives more people a shot.
Today I'm going to be arguing that auto-tune does more harm to music than good first of all music is supposed to be a creative field and it's supposed to be a field where you do something you're capable of this is why men often rap and sing lower pitched songs while woman tend to sing higher pitched songs because of this I strongly believe that Auto-Tune is not an excuse for making music better but rather a justification for people who aren't good in that field now think about this have you ever seen some teenagers on tiktok haven't a very magnificent and real voice well that is probably Auto-Tune and of course that doesn't necessarily harm anyone but it damages the purpose of music Plus they're getting recognition for being better than actual singers just because they're utilizing autotune which is not justifiable therefore I strongly believe that auto-tune does more harm than good to music
Doesn't it seem harsh to call a sound harmful when people genuinely enjoy it? My opponent makes a fair point about real vocal skill, and I'm not sure how to argue back. I still feel autotune can be a fun instrument, not just a crutch.
Okay the thing is music doesn't care who's better or who's more specifically who's better at singing right music is not just singing it it consists of composing or playing his ruins in general how does auto tune going to help people with playing instruments well no so because music favors creativity and auto-tune is making people less creative because they don't want to invent something themselves anymore for instance you can't beatbox and instead of learning how to beatbox which takes like 7 days you kind of just do it very badly and use autogen what's the point of that he didn't learn anything she didn't improvise and what's the point of it people enjoy it maybe maybe people enjoy it but that's about it there's no benefits to it and music is kind of a thing that people does for their carriers right and a carrier is something that's supposed to help people improve their lives if you aren't doing anything but just rely on Auto-Tune autotune auto tune to help you build a carrier what will you do if one day musicians are required to not use any origin you're doomed and that's my argument
Imagine a shy person humming a tune into a cheap mic and autotune making it listenable. My opponent is right that it can replace learning skill, and I don't know how to answer that. It still feels like opening a door, not harming music.
Okay a fun instrument you said auto tune can be a fun instrument then may I ask you what's the definition of an instrument I'm not going to State it I'm pretty sure most people already knows but an instrument doesn't just allow you to be good at it for the click of a button does it guitar takes years to master pianos takes decades to master drums could take a few months or a few years it depends on you but you need to give it time and effort what I want to emphasize is that auto tune is not a "fun instrument" but rather at 2:00 that justifies talent that doesn't belong in music and even if you don't have the talent you have the chance to shine if you just give it time effort and patience so why use Auto tune?
My opponent keeps saying autotune is not an instrument, but it is a tool you still shape with taste. Still, they are fair that it can replace learning, and I am not sure how to answer. I just think the weird sounds can be fun.
There's so many doors already open in music right there's so many fields that you can choose in music, music isn't just composing singing or rapping through so many distinct instruments that you can learn there's so many ways that you get your chance in music why make something that takes 1 minute to learn then actually put effort and something that's impressive and going to be more helpful in the future?
