Look, I get why people are excited about esports. The skill level is insane, the competition is fierce, and the prize money is no joke. But calling it a "real sport" is stretching the term way too far.
A sport requires physical exertion. Not just hand-eye coordination or quick reflexes. I'm talking about athletic movement, endurance, and full-body engagement. Sitting in a chair for hours, even with intense focus, isn't the same as running a marathon or taking a hit in football.
When I think of sport, I think of sweat, muscle strain, and physical risk. Esports has none of that. You can't compare a gamer's "workout" to what a gymnast or soccer player does. It's a competition, sure. But so is chess, poker, or competitive eating. Calling everything a sport just waters down the meaning of the word. Let esports be its own thing. It doesn't need to borrow the "sport" label to be respected.
