Imagine a college basketball game where the star already gets a free ride, coaching, gear, and national TV exposure. That seems like plenty. If we start paying them, it just feels like minor league pro sports, and I am not sure that belongs on campus.

Don’t you think they deserve pay for their hard work? They are already almost at a pro level I feel like that deserves pay like the pro level.

Imagine a volleyball player on scholarship who mostly studies and plays for school pride. If we pay athletes, the whole thing turns into pro sports on campus. The other side may have a point about fairness, but I still can't get past that gut feeling.

Picture a swimmer who gets a scholarship and trains between classes. When the other side says they deserve pay like pros, that sounds fair, and I don't really know how to argue it. Still, paying students just makes campus feel like a business, and I don't like that.
