College athletes should 100% be paid. Now I'm not saying the exact same as real athletes but they still deserve a little pay because good ones will be able to rise up and become a true athlete and to be able to do that and have better people, they need to remove the difficulty and stress of paying off college debts so they should be paid an okay amount to get them out of stress so they can play better and more and better athletes will be created

I think the other side gets this wrong by treating college sports like a job. To me, athletes already get a free education and a chance to play, and paying them would just make it about money. That's my gut feeling.

You can't just rely on a gut feeling to win, even if college athletes get there for free, what about the others that don't get to go for free. Or the people that have struggling families and need something to eat. You can't just not pay a really good athlete if they're stressing out about money

College sports should stay about school pride, not paychecks. Maybe my opponent makes a fair point about stress, and I'm not sure how to argue back. Still, paying players just feels wrong to me.

Pride matters but how can a player take pride when they can't take anything else. It's not just about a paycheck, it's a way to help them rise up and become better because the more they're feeling, that's more of a chance they could eventually become a real athlete

Imagine a student who just loves playing for their school. The other side's point about money stress is fair, and I can't really rebut it. But paying athletes still seems like it would turn college sports into something else.
