Look, here's the practical problem I see. Streaming platforms already pay artists fractions of a penny per stream. If we flood them with AI-generated music - and we're talking infinite, zero-cost content - the system collapses. Human artists get buried under an avalanche of algorithm-churned tracks. Listeners can't find real music. The platforms get filled with content nobody actually asked for, just stuff designed to game recommendation algorithms.
And here's the thing: once this floodgate opens, there's no closing it. We're talking about a feedback loop where AI trains on itself, producing increasingly homogenized garbage. Real musicians won't bother releasing on platforms where they're competing against software pumping out thousands of songs a day. The economics just don't work. I'm not saying ban AI music entirely, but streaming platforms should keep it separate, maybe in its own section. Otherwise we're watching the music industry eat itself alive.
