a certain university offers different kinds of sports--producing their own athletes. so if a university offers athletic programs and sport activities to shape athletes, then they should pay for it. thus, universities are part of government institution, so the univs arent the only one who is going to pay for it

I think the other side gets it wrong by treating college sports like a job. To me, athletes are students first, and paying them directly just feels like it would mess up why we watch. I don't really know how to argue it better than that.
