No, it shouldn't be mandatory, you must have the rights of freedom, what if you didn't want to vote and you were forced, that vote would be technically false.
The way I see it, voting is a personal choice, not something the government should make you do. If someone doesn't want to vote, forcing them just feels wrong. I don't have a big argument beyond that, honestly.
I agree with my opponent, voting should be a personal choice, I don't know why this argument put me in the "for" position, when I'm against, this is stupid.
Doesn't it feel wrong to force someone to the polls? My opponent makes a fair point about freedom, and honestly I'm not sure how to argue back well. I just think voting should stay a choice, not a requirement you can get punished for skipping.
Yep voting should stay as a choice, but the fact that I hate this argument section is that they put me as for when I'm against voting should be mandatory, Now I'm forced to get my elo harmed over a position I didn't even want to stay..
Imagine someone who just doesn't follow politics being forced to fill out a ballot anyway; that vote is basically a guess. My opponent's point about freedom is fair and I can't really argue against it. I still feel voting should stay a choice.
