We all want fewer tragedies, and the other side’s concern about mass shootings is fair. But a broad ban or tighter restrictions mostly burden law-abiding people, while criminals ignore rules. It’s like a heist movie where the robber strolls past the “no weapons” sign; the sign doesn’t stop him, it just makes everyone else less able to respond. I’d rather see enforcement against illegal trafficking, better mental health support, and real school security than policies that treat millions of responsible owners as suspects. That’s my strongest case: target the violence, not the law-abiding.
