If you start paying college athletes, the whole system gets thrown off. Big schools with deep pockets will snap up all the top talent, and smaller programs won't stand a chance. That scholarship they already get is a pretty solid deal, and turning it into a bidding war ruins what college sports are about.

I get that college athletes put in a ton of work and deserve a lot of credit. But they already get free tuition, housing, and meals, which is huge. Paying them would just turn college sports into a bidding war, and that takes away the whole team spirit and school pride.
