Finland might sound like a great country at first, because of the hapiness rate and how much money people have. But going a bit deeper, many flaws arise. Finland is a confortable, but a terrible country for innovation. Tax rate can sometimes get over 50%, forcing companies to lose innovation competitions against china and united states. Over the past 40 years, finland has made no world changing innovations, and this could be related to the tax increase. Today, human life is not very sustainable, it is a race between techology and sustainability collapse. If every country is like finland, taking away the money that could be used for innovation, and putting it for solcia equality, human sustainability collapses. I do agree finland has a high life quality and hapiness level, but it is just relying on other country's sacrifices, and other countries should not try to become finland if they want long term sucsess

Innovations should be left to individual companies, not the government. And choosing between life quality and innovation is mandatory, it is impossible to keep both, one has to be sacrificed. Finland has high paying jobs, but the spending is also high, so they are actually not much richer than everyone else. Keeping a country educated and health is a great thing, but techology innovation is what can actually make long term sustainability. Giving everyone healthcare and education could work for a few generations, until earth runs out of resources and the system collapses. The sustainability collapse is already happening, 1.7 earths are estimated to be needed to support current human activity, finland requires 4.1 earths to be sustained. Techology fixing sustainability is not new, it is already happening, in the 1700s, without any modern techology, it was predicted earth could only sustain 1.5 billion, now, we see that number is completely wrong because how much improvement in sustainability techology developement has given

You say Finland made no world-changing innovations in 40 years. That's just false. Linus Torvalds built Linux there, and it runs most of the internet. Nokia, Supercell, KONE, Wärtsilä. High taxes didn't kill that; they funded the education that produced it. And "relying on other countries' sacrifices" is a slogan, not an argument. Name the sacrifice. You can't, because Finland trades and innovates like everyone else. Your whole case collapses on its first factual claim.

Linux was built by someone in finland does not mean finland created world changing innovations. it was actually produced as a personal project for a 21 year old, who just worked by himself and did not have to pay taxes for it. Later, as it grew, linux was globalized and stopped just being a company in finland. Linux started in finland as a personal project, but as it got bigger and needed a team instead of just one person, it stopped being mainly developed in finland.

Your own 1700s example kills your case. Malthus predicted collapse and was dead wrong because educated societies innovate out of it. So who funds that education? The taxes you're whining about. There's no mandatory tradeoff, and Finland proves it, ranking high on innovation and equality at once. If more countries copied that, we'd have more engineers fixing sustainability, not fewer. And that "4.1 earths" number measures consumption, not policy failure. You conceded life quality, then called the country bad anyway. Pick a lane.

Education does not solve sustainability by itself, it allows for innovation which is what actually solves sustainability. there must be a balance between education system and taxes, if either is too high, it does not work. The high innovation likely comes from Global Innovation Index, there, findland is ranked high in adopting innovation, but not in creating. Finland's economy is growing very slowly and fragile, unlike other countries like china and united states, who while having less equality, but much more innovations, and growing economies. Today's new innovations keep comming from china and united states, which have growing economies the world has never seen before. If every country is like finland, world will not sustain for long, a few generations world have high life quality, the rest would collapse because sustainability rates

The real question isn't whether Linux stayed Finnish forever; it's whether Finland can produce world-changing work. You just admitted it did. Moving the goalposts to "well, it globalized later" proves nothing. Every major innovation globalizes. A 21-year-old in Finland had the skills and freedom to build Linux because the system you attack funded his education and gave him stability. And your own Malthus point proves educated societies innovate out of collapse. So the tradeoff you keep insisting on is fiction. Finland does both. Calling that bad is just stubborn.

Linux was created by Linus Torvalds, who was born in 1969,before finland was what it is today. You proved finland moving to a higher tax education system made things worse. Linus Torvalds made linux in the 1980s, not today, he got the education system from 1970s and 80s, not the modern one. Today, specially after than 21th century, not great inventions have been made by finland, even if it says it has the highest equality education. Human sustainability collapse is not fiction, it is already happening, and techology fixing it is not fiction either, it is also currently going on. This is not about history or culture, it is about the current government. Private businesses handle money way better than governments do. Take the example of space X and NASA, one private, one government. SpaceX existed for less time than nasa, with less funding and recognition, yet in a few years, space X rockets passed NASA rockets in delivering satelites to space. and NASA's porpuse now is mostly for research, not launching satelites anymore.

Fine, sustainability and innovation both matter. But your whole case now boils down to: Finland grows slowly and isn't China. Slow growth isn't failure. Mature economies grow slower. And if every country were Finland, you'd have more educated people solving sustainability, not fewer. The 4.1 earths number is a consumption metric, not a verdict on policy. You already conceded life quality, freedom, low corruption. That's not a bad country. That's a successful one you can't admit.
