The reason I'm suggesting a blanket ban is because it's very difficult to enforce the alternative. There are different kinds of committees in a government, and each of these committees are responsible for a certain sector. Like semiconductors, arms, and ammunition etc. Now, enforcing that any elected official for a certain sector should not be allowed to just trade in that sector might sound reasonable, but it would be very difficult to enforce. On top of it, there could be an exchange between elected officials across different sectors, and it would be very difficult for us to know if that trade was because of some secret, undisclosed information, or it was based on public information. So it's just a logistical challenge, and I would like to have a blanket ban which ensures that there is no conflict of interest and the lawmakers are making laws which will generally help the country
