Award shows help people by working towards a certain goal. A completely normal and expected human reaction is to desire to be seen and celebrated. The ones who lost too can gain something, through losing you can be pushed to do something better and bigger. Award shows are also incredible Entertainment for those not directly involved too. Overall,Award shows provide meaningful human benefits by validating artistic choices, boosting professional morale, and fostering shared cultural experiences.

My opponent makes a fair point that being celebrated, and even losing, can motivate people. But if the whole thing is really a contest where money and campaigning decide who gets celebrated, my gut still says scrap the ritual.
