The funding for military in united states should be reduced. Currently, there are no major global wars, a small military is needed for safety reasons and in case of emmergency. But the current 1.5 trillion used every year is a lot, this money is taken away from taxpayers, and mostly wasted. If the military funding was reduced, more money could be used for science, community service, paying national debt or just collecting less tax.

Since world war 2, united states has never used its military to the full power. Army was used in vietnam and korean war, but none of it triggered a national crisis where almost all soldiers were working. And now, in the current age, nuclear weapons already dominate the world. Nuclear weapons are one of the reasons there has been no global conflict after world war 2, because any country knows starting a global war would result in a nuclear war with no winner and humans as the loser. An army is needed, but the current scale is not sustainable, there is 40 trillion dollars of bedt to pay, keeping that number growing just creates a bigger challenge for future generations. And for countries like China and Russia, it is extremelly unlikely they will have a full scale war with united states, and if that really hapneend, nuclear bombs are the only thing that matter. Keeping a small army and a few nuclear weapons is needed for security, putting 1.5 trillion into army when the country is already in debt is a bad economic decision

Today, the army size is so large it will never be used unless world war 3. And in case of world war 3, nuclear weapons will be used, which results in every country losing. Conflicts like taiwan, iran, ukraine and isreal do not require the entire united states army being deployed, in fact, today, most soldiers are not on a mission, and are just training. Putting that money in science can help build a better economy and future weapons. Imagine if after world war 1, a country invested money into keeping a large army instead of developing more advanced weapons, they would have no chance in a war today.

United states is actually spending way more than china and russia. I am not saying a lot of nuclear bombs are necessary, I am saying in a modern full scale war, nuclear bombs is the only thing that matters. If a smaller army can't stop a conflict, it is best to just quit, instead of risking a war. Just because china and russia have been spending a lot of money on army does not mean it is a good thing, in fact, china spends way less in absolute amount and in percent of gdp. Russia spends a lot of money on military, which is the main reason it never gets rich and the country stays poor. A smaller army with a few nuclear bombs is enough for solving most conflicts. And in case there is a problem so severe that the entire US army is needed, would it be a good move, or is participating just risking world war 3? United states say they are the justice system of the world, but who defines justice is flawed, and should united states put problems related to citizens first, or participate in conflicts of other countries?

Nuclear bombs do not make an army irrelevant, they make soldiers irrelevant in case of world war 3. And United States is not ukraine, they are diffirent, there is no country with a risk of invading united states by land. United states is not going to get invaded, the army is being used just for other country conflicts. Training is a waste if it will not be used, and there is no full scale of invavion of united states exists. A 370 ship chinese army is not a risk of invading united states. And the current full military spending is actually about 1.4 to 1.5 trillion a year. Getting a smaller army also helps citizens, by allowing science to progress and improve citizen lives. If a country really wants the best army long term, more money should be used to develope science and weapon techology, not keep a large army that burns the money.
