Let's find the shared note first: locking people up for small amounts is harsh, and medical research deserves room. But legalizing recreational marijuana isn't the same as making it safer. It turns a controlled substance into a consumer product, with marketing, availability, and social permission. That raises use, especially among young people, whose brains are still developing. We can reform the laws without pretending a drug that can cloud memory, motivation, and mental health is just another adult choice. That's why I'm against legalization.
