In Australia skilled migration is a weakness not strength. Not touching on cultural difference and social strain that migrants place on Australian society (especially 3rd world migrants). 3rd world migration combined with corporate greed is a direct factor in wage suppression and stands between regular Australians and a reasonable cost of living. If corporations were not able to rely on importing a worker from a 3rd world countries, countries where workers will do more for less pay, on visas were the minimum wage (which they pay) is ~50,000 AUD they would be forced to hire an Australian citizen for more. Many Australians consider the cost of children to be the primary reason why they choose not have any, and the raising wages would aid in eliminating this, furthermore our reliance on foreign labor is caused by our insufficient Australian birthrates, cutting immigration or raising minimum pay on skilled work visas would eliminate these 2 birds with one stone.
