I think the Netherlands should ban shorthold flights to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide. These are gases that they're greenhouse gases and that means that they keep the warmth in the atmosphere and that contributes to climate change, which is not good. There are also just a lot of train alternatives. You can just go by train. A plane is not the better option. According to the EEA, trains have much lower emissions per person kilometer than planes. And also planes are a very easy replacement, especially short haul flights because trains go a lot of short routes and stuff. And it's more efficient because it can drive a lot of people at one time, just like planes, but then more eco-friendly.

Well, I agree it may not solve much, but it is a big step in showing other countries how we can help prevent climate change. Because maybe the Netherlands does not have that much shorthole flights, but like China or America, there are way more. So we should encourage more sustainable travel options.

It is not only about the emissions because planes and flights have just a lot of fuss around them. Like you need to go to the airport and then board a plane and buy tickets and that's a lot of trouble and going by train is actually easier. You can also go by bike or something if you want to be like healthy. Yeah, it's not only the emissions, but also the efficiency.
