Yes ,lawmakers should be banned from any individual stocks because a lawmaker has the power to decide whether a bill passes or not ,if it's related to a individual stock bill ,human nature occurs and a individual only sees for their profit and votes on bills that profit them. They are earning a well salary so why shall they have individual stocks

Banning it sounds clean, but practically they'd just move money into blind trusts or funds and we'd know even less. I get the worry, but I'm not sure a ban really stops anything. It just changes the paperwork, honestly.

Stocks are unpredictable ,many people get losses because of their stocks going down . In a critical position as a lawmaker ,why shall the lawmaker risk their money when they already have a stable income

A lawmaker holding a broad index fund still owns a slice of companies a bill could touch. Your point about human nature is fair, and I am not sure how to argue back well. But banning individual stocks just pushes money into funds, and that seems no better.

Who says individuals need to only put money in funds ,they could put the money in a fixed deposit account and take it out when needed in emergency . Human nature is obvious ,a person can do anything for profit or self benefit

Imagine a lawmaker forced to dump stocks and buy a broad fund. A bill on banks or oil still nudges that fund's value, so they still have skin in the game. Your risk point is fair, but I think a ban just hides the stake, not removes it.
