We can agree that the fetus has a right to life, but the relation between the mother and the fetus requires bodily dependency on the mother which is a huge burden. Sure, it may be the consequence of sex, but facing consequence in expense of your fundamental right(like bodily autonomy) is morally impermissible. In a car crash, we would normally call an ambulance to save the passengers, but if we face consequences like pregnancy, in a car crash, the consequence of driving recklessly could be perishing from the crash. Yet we would call a rescue team and the passengers would meet a proper trial with a heavy fine as their consequence. If that’s the case, abortion must be allowed to protect the mother’s right to bodily autonomy and let her face a proper trial and even sentence her of first degree murder.
