A city puts cameras on every lamp post to ease traffic, and suddenly it can track who walks where and when. That feels like surveillance with nicer branding to me. I am not sure how to argue it fully, but that is my gut feeling.

The real question is what the city is built to collect, not what it promises to save. My opponent makes a fair point about traffic and convenience, and I am not sure how to argue back. Still, if the same sensors watch everyone all the time, the branding feels like the point.
