AI music is harder or as hard as regular music to create. It is mostly used just to polish off your tunes and your voices, pitches, just anything. It can help with lyrics and just overall good.

Spotify already hosts over 100 million tracks, and AI tools let anyone flood it with thousands more daily. Every one of those files still gets stored, transcoded, cached, and streamed from data centers that already consume about 1.5 percent of global electricity. The IEA expects that to reach nearly 4 percent by 2030, with AI as a main driver. Sure, AI lowers the barrier to making music. But major platforms don't need infinite disposable tracks burning real energy for almost no listeners. That's why I'm against allowing them.

Well, you're not wrong, but your point is kind of turning on you. I think that if you're not allowing people to use AI for that, people that don't use AI can get mistakenly banned from Spotify. And you say that AI music is so much, but so is regular music. I think that there's pretty much more regular music than AI music uploads every day. So that consumes more than the regular electricity. And you saying that all of the AI centers drink so much of electricity is like saying that salt water is bad because salt is bad. Because that is not the case. Because when you say that 1.5% of electricity is because of AI, that's definitely not because of AI music. Because AI music is so little compared to just chatting with chatGBT. I know people have had hundreds of new chats with chatGBT. And that is so much more than AI music can or will ever be. And besides, I just think that banning is not the right way to go because I just think that we should discourage people to actually do it, not ban it. Because that can get normal people banned and it can get AM music non-banned, which will raise a whole bit with Spotify doing anything wrong. Why are they doing that wrong? I just don't think that is the way to go about it.

Does the planet care whether a track was made by a human or an algorithm? It doesn't. Your point that AI can polish vocals and help with lyrics is fair, and I'd accept it as a production tool. But that's not what major platforms are being asked to host. They're being asked to host unlimited auto-generated tracks, most with near-zero listeners, each one stored, transcoded, and cached in energy-hungry data centers. That's not creativity expanding. That's waste at industrial scale, and the grid can't take it.

I think that your point is valid but still completely wrong. Just because the song has zero listeners, I don't think that it should be banned. What if I pour my heart into a song that I actually created by hand? But will it get zero listeners? One or two? Will it be taken off Spotify too because it takes too much space? But one song that takes too much space, all of them does. So should it take away every single song that doesn't get streamed a lot? Maybe what's the limit on at least 10 streams, 100 streams. But what if I upload a song? How long time do I have to get that many streams? Maybe a day. But if I have a day to get stream 100 times, maybe I can just listen to it myself and then AI will still be there. But then you say, oh, well, we can use AI to track down AI, but AI often gets wrong. Maybe AI can get wrong and take a normal song that has like hundreds of thousands of streams. And you know that the Declaration of Independence actually got marked as 99% AI, which is insane. What if that happened to a normal song, say, Save Your Tears? Imagine how angry the people that listen to that song would be. And that's such a debate. How do we know if it's AI? Should normal people listen to it? But normally people can still get it wrong. So that's not the case. How are you supposed... I want to test this. How will you make sure that no person that made a song will get banned and no AI will not get banned?

Here's a stat that should stop you: over 24 percent of tracks on major streaming services have never been streamed once. That's tens of millions of files already sitting in data centers, burning energy for nobody. Now add AI farming thousands more daily. You're right that AI music is a tiny slice of AI's total energy use compared to chatbots. But that doesn't make it harmless. It's pure waste stacked on existing waste. And your ban concern? That's a detection problem, not a reason to let the floodgates open. Discouragement won't work when the incentive is volume. So no, major platforms shouldn't host them.
