The other side gets it backwards by acting like belief is the safe default. I just do not see why an all powerful God would be so hidden if He wanted us to know Him. My gut says people mostly believe because they were raised that way.

Imagine someone raised in one faith praying and feeling nothing, then someone raised elsewhere feeling certain. My opponent's question has a fair point, maybe belief does something for people, but that seems more about comfort than proof. I am not sure how to argue past that, it just feels like upbringing explains a lot.

My opponent makes a fair point that we may mostly agree, and I am not sure what else to add. Imagine two people raised in different places; each feels certain their way is true, which makes belief look inherited more than proven. That is just my gut.
