When I picture the actual layout of a collector's room, the status theory collapses. If status were the goal, you'd buy one nice player, a few gatefold albums, and hang them on the wall like trophies. But most collectors have stacks spilling off shelves, dollar-bin finds with scratched covers, records they drove across town to find. That's not a display strategy. That's a landscape you have to walk through, wrong turns included. Someone chasing status builds a curated gallery. Someone chasing music builds a messy map. The inconvenience is the point, and nobody endures that long a journey just for the photo.
