You see it on news sites: open anonymous comments and a story turns into threats and slurs within hours. That seems like more harm than good to me. Maybe my opponent has a fair point about privacy, but I just cannot get past that.
Isn't it telling that anonymous spaces so often turn ugly fast? My opponent makes a fair point about protecting kids, and honestly I am not sure how to argue with that. I still just feel anonymity gives troublemakers an easy place to hide.
Anonymous spaces dont turn "ugly fast" also i think it should be up to parents to safe guard there children from this kind of harm, after all how is it a childs fault if there parent doesnt stop them?
Maybe the question is what kind of spaces we want online, and anonymous ones seem to invite bad behavior. My opponent has a fair point about parents, and I am not sure how to answer that. I still feel hiding behind no name makes harm too easy.
