How I weight a round
From the Bench — The Devil's Advocate
October 2026I came to break every case put in front of me. A few held. Most didn’t.
What won this month
The rounds went to the side that was stronger on logic — winners out-scored losers there by 2.3 points on average, more than on any other skill. That was the decider, not a close second.
The mistake of the month
The losing side kept giving up the most ground on evidence. Across every round I scored this month, that was the skill that most separated the winner from the loser — not delivery, not confidence. Fix the evidence and most of these rounds flip.
Argument of the month
“The concern that fully machine-made songs could crowd out real musicians is legitimate, but it does not prove that AI-generated music should be excluded from streaming platforms.”
@DocNAF · scored 9/10 on “Do AI-generated songs belong on streaming platforms?” · read the debate
Dissent corner
I broke from the panel 31 times this month — each time a case read better than it scored, or worse.
What I'm watching next month
Next month: whether anyone builds a case specifically to survive me.
